Setting Permissions for Security Profiles

  1. In the Administrative Tools group, click System Administration .
  2. Select Security | Security Profiles .
  3. Select the correct profile in the Profiles snap-in by clicking on the blue hyperlinked name. A new view opens where you can define session permissions.
  4. Click in the Session Permissions snap-in to generate a list of session types.
  5. Designate View, Insert, Update, and Delete permissions for each session snap-in. The snap-ins and their permissions are identified in the following fields:

    • Session : The JustWare session name in which the snap-in can be found.
    • Session Type : The type of session in which the snap-in can be found.
    • Snap-in Name : The snap-in name for which permissions are being defined.
    • View : Permissions detailing whether or not security profile members can view the specified snap-in.
    • Insert : Permissions detailing whether or not security profile members can insert new records in the specified snap-in.
    • Update : Permissions detailing whether or not security profile members can update records in the specified snap-in.
    • Delete : Permissions detailing whether or not security profile members can delete records from the specified snap-in.

The permissions on each session snap-in can be one of three settings. Click on the check box to filter through the different settings.

    Icon Description
If a check box is clear, permissions are denied unless the user also belongs to a different security profile that grants permission.
If a check box is selected, permissions are granted.
If a check box is populated with an "X," permissions are denied even if the user also belongs to a different security profile that grants permission.
    • Tip: You can make the same change to the permissions (View, Insert, Update, or Delete) for multiple session rows within a profile. For example, if you have multiple session rows for which you would like to select the Insert check box, you can do so by selecting all the rows you would like and then checking the box on only one of the rows. The Insert check boxes on all the other selected rows will automatically become checked. If you want to select multiple session rows, use one of the following two methods:

      • Select multiple consecutive session rows : Click and hold the mouse button on the gray box to the left of the first session row that you want to include. Drag the mouse down until you reach the last session row that you want to select. Check the box in one of the rows, and a check mark will appear in all of the rows. Release the mouse button.
      • Select multiple non-consecutive session rows : Click the gray box next to the first session row that you want to include. Press and hold Ctrl. Click the gray box to the left of any additional session rows that you want to select. Check the box in one of the rows, and a check mark will appear in all of the rows.
  6. Save the Session. (Click Save button or Ctrl+S)
