Using the Unit Log¶
- In the Tools landing page, navigate to Case Tools > Physiclal Location.
- In the Location Name drop-down list, select the name of the physical location unit from the drop-down list provided. This list contains all of the physical location records that have linked name IDs.
- Click on the Unit Log snap-in container and then the Unit Log snap-in.
- Add a new record.

Select or type all required (indicated by an asterisk) and relevant data for each available field.

Select the type of correspondence to be recorded.
Notes
Type any related notes in this free-text field.
Location
Select a location from the drop-down list.
Time Fields
Use the Start, Duration, and End fields to record the correspondence's timeframe. The three fields are linked together. If you fill in any two of these fields, the third will automatically populate. - Start: Type the start date and time, or select the date from the drop-down calendar. - Duration: Type the duration in minutes, hours, days, months, or years, including the unit. For example, to indicate two hours, use [2h]. - End: Type the end date and time, or select the date from the drop-down calendar.
Status
Select the status of the correspondence.
Category
Select the category of the correspondence.
The remaining fields in the record row are read-only and will be populated automatically after saving.

For each record row in the Unit Log snap-in, you have the option to add an involved name record. For example, you might add an involved name record so that the person is notified of the record row you added. The Involved Names snap-in should be completed following your organization's guidelines.
Note: If you do not wish to use the Involved Names snap-in, skip to Step 10.

To involve a name record, click on the Involved Names snap-in.
- Add a new record.

Select or type all required (indicated by an asterisk) and relevant data for each available field.

Select an involved person in one of the following ways: - Select a name from the drop-down list. - Type search criteria, and click the Name Search or Name Quick Search button.
Tip: Names automatically become hyperlinks when they are successfully added. Click the hyperlink or press Enter to open a linked name.
Notes
Type any related notes in this free-text field.
Reminder Time Prior To Event
If you want an email or pop-up reminder sent to this name record, select the amount of time prior to the correspondence you want the email or pop-up reminder to be sent.
Email
Select this check box if you want an email reminder sent to this name record.
Pop-up
Select this check box if you want a pop-up reminder sent to this name record.
Flag
This is an agency-customizable check box.
Status
Select the status type from the list.
The remaining fields in the record row are read-only and will be populated automatically after saving.

Save the session.
Note: In addition to the record row you created, a record row will be added to the Involved Names snap-in with the location name.
